Single Family House in Kessel-lo
A young couple asked me to design an extension to their tiny house in Leuven. Since the existing building of the 1920s was only 3,4 meter wide and their family was growing, this was a particularly interesting opportunity to investigate the densification potential of a typical Flemish townhouse.
My design conceives the extension as an elongated sequence of spaces, almost doubling the available amount of space. In order to emphasize the link with the garden, the extension descends in four plateaus, allowing a view on the garden and its tree from the center of the house through the patio.
