Cycling the Sihl
[master thesis developed at the ETH/Zürich]
Zürich is a “Swiss” city in every sense of the word. From its structured urban morphology to its reliable public transport network, the city functions like a well-oiled machine. Only the Sihl, a fast-flowing, unpredictable mountain river, dares to flow through the city untamed.
My master thesis investigates how this forgotten river could be revitalized and how its unique structure could link urban fragments along a new bicycle path. Assembling flows of water and people, a valley for sports and recreation is conceived, while co-existing with the never fading flooding risk of the river.
