Longly neglected, the Stiemerbeek is an unattractive small creek running through the city Genk. In the last decades, the stream was canalized and the bulk of the indigenous vegetation disappeared.
By creating a bicycle path, we open up the valley and make a connection between the surrounding residential neighborhoods. On several key locations, the path becomes a larger infrastructure and provides services and viewpoints. Thus, the path acts as a catalyst to start a process of renaturalising the Stiemerbeek's valley.
